Bia Power UK Ltd was created to originate a portfolio of sites for Battery Energy Storage Systems ("BESS") projects in the UK that address the problems of renewable energy intermittency and support the energy transition. The idea was to find the best sites, obtain the grid connections and planning permissions, and then sell them onto infrastructure funds. Bia Power now has a proven track record of doing this successfully having sold RTB projects to Gresham House (https://greshamhouse.com/row/real-assets/energy-transition-investment/gresham-house-energy-storage-fund-plc/) and Field Energy (https://www.field.energy).

The team at Bia Power have now decided to evolve from simply an originator of sites to a company dedicated to the construction and long-term operation of Battery Energy Storage System ("BESS") projects in the UK.

Bia Power's first project that will be built and operated for the long term is Walsoken, a 200mw/ 400mwh project that is being developed in a joint venture with Eren Industries (https://www.eren-groupe.com/en). It is located on a greenfield site near Wisbech in Norfolk, England and will be grid connected in the first half of the 2034s.

Bia Power Ltd is part of the Bia Group which also owns Bia Power Italia (www.biaitalia.com), a company undertaking BESS development operations in Italy. Bia Italia is in a JV with Eren in Italy and has a 750mw/ 3.4Gwh pipeline of BESS projects which will be constructed and operated for the long term.
